Help Me Decide

Everyone has different priorities, but one of the most compelling is price. With murphy cabinet beds, prices can range from several hundreds of dollars to over $2,000. Is there a difference? Do you get what you pay for? Well, of course, it depends on what you’re looking for but, yes, there are qualitative differences in materials, hardware, durability, and aesthetics.

We exclusively sell cabinet beds manufactured in Malaysia by Night & Day Furniture which tend to be towards the high end of price. This collection is made of solid rubberwood and comes in several different styles and finishes. Everything about these beds is high-end including our support services.

First, let’s describe what most have in common

  • Freestanding cabinet design. No wall mounting required making them suitable for renters.
  • Mostly queen size.
  • Most include a tri-fold gel mattress.
  • Most have a drawer beneath the bed for storage.
  • Built-in USB ports and power outlets (except the cube)

  • Feature heavy-duty hinges that make opening and closing much easier than budget models.
  • Solid wood or hardwood veneer construction.

Solid hardwood

Positioned as premium furniture rather than simply space-saving beds. At this price point, buyers are paying for better materials, enhanced functionality, superior craftsmanship, and long-term durability.

  • Solid hardwood or high-grade furniture hardwoods.
  • Furniture-quality finishes.
  • Stronger joinery and construction.
  • Greater resistance to scratches, dents, and daily wear.
  • Larger, more elegant design.
  • Wider tops that function as display surfaces.
  • Cleaner fit and finish with fewer visible seams.
  • Better mattress systems.
  • Enhanced opening mechanisms.
  • Fold-out nightstands.

These models prioritize aesthetics and longevity, making them feel like permanent furniture rather than a temporary space-saving solution.

You probably feel a little anxious purchasing an expensive product online, sight unseen from someone you don’t know. Your natural reaction is to become defensive and probably reduce your costs to “protect” yourself in case of disappointment. However, you can use these descriptions as a checklist to see what is included or excluded from your purchase to ensure that you get what you want, expect, and pay for.
